I don't think Interrupt pipes have anything to do with Interrup events. Interrupt pipes are read the same way any other pipe is read. The only thing that makes an interrupt pipe "interrupt" is that it is polled at a set rate, and the device is not necessarily expected to produce data every time its polled. So when data finally does appear it may be used to the same effect as a normal interrupt.
